Monday 11/16

Prelude: Free body diagram

Objective: a force requires a change in velocity or acceleration.

Notes on work:

Work= force* distance

Work is the change in energy of something.

Work = change in kinetic energy.

Kinetic energy: Energy of motion. Equation = 1/2mv2

Potential energy: energy of position

PE = mgh

Potential energy: a bow, an object elevated. Something that has a force acting on it but no work.

Introduce lab. Students will drop balls first and then measure the mass of their ball. 3 balls per group if possible. Two timers per group if possible.

HW: Blue handout: page 32 and 37.

The potential energy in physics is the energy that an item retains as a result of its position in relation to other objects, internal tensions, electric charge, or other elements. Many students are looking for important notes on various physics topics, so the notes you shared in your blog were quite beneficial. I recently read in your blog that you illustrate this topic with equations and graphics. Each physics topic can only be thoroughly explained and teach by an excellent physics tutor. Thank you for sharing interesting and valuable information.
