Monday 11/16

Prelude: Free body diagram

Objective: a force requires a change in velocity or acceleration.

Notes on work:

Work= force* distance

Work is the change in energy of something.

Work = change in kinetic energy.

Kinetic energy: Energy of motion. Equation = 1/2mv2

Potential energy: energy of position

PE = mgh

Potential energy: a bow, an object elevated. Something that has a force acting on it but no work.

Introduce lab. Students will drop balls first and then measure the mass of their ball. 3 balls per group if possible. Two timers per group if possible.

HW: Blue handout: page 32 and 37.

Monday 11/9

  1. Today's prelude: finish momentum problem set.
  2. Today we got a handout on Momentum Lab. Make sure you finish problems 1 and 4.
  3. Finish all of momentum problem set for homework.

Wednesday 11/4

  1. Students worked on conservation of momentum problem set from the textbook. This is a handout and the problems are listed on the handout.
  2. We also took notes on conservation of momentum. See another student to get these notes and make sure you list them on your table of contents!

Wednesday 10/28

We took notes on Newtons 3rd law and finished up binders to have them ready to turn in. Binders should be all organized and work is done and ready to grade by now!
